We are pleased to offer SIMPSONS fans this outstanding hand painted original production cel setup, from the classic season thirteen episode “The Old Man and the Key" (2002).
At the beginning of this episode, Homer is excited about the start of the (original) XFL season, unaware that the "X" didn't stand for anything and that the league itself had folded after its sole season the previous year. Sensational cel of Homer wearing his XFL shirt and cap, as well as holding a flag!
This is a one-of-a-kind, hand-painted production cel setup (there are no others), and the artwork was filmed and used in the making of this SIMPSONS episode. Freeze-frame your DVD or Video, and you will see this unique piece of artwork which appears on screen around the 00:27 mark. Homer is hand-painted onto a single cel, and placed against the matching scene print background.
This 12 field, 3-peghole, 3 cel setup measures 10.5 inches by 12.5 inches wide, and bears the Twentieth Century Fox gold seal (lower corner). The artwork is also accompanied with the original Twentieth Century Fox certificate of authenticity and is in excellent condition.
EPISODE SYNOPSIS:
"The Old Man and the Key" is the thirteenth episode of The Simpsons thirteenth season, originally airing on March 10, 2002. When a sultry new woman (Olympia Dukakis) takes up residence in his retirement home, Grampa is determined to win her affections by impressing her with his driving skills. Grampa convinces Homer to let him borrow the car, and he proceeds to make a mess of the town's roads. Although he impresses the new old gal, he's still forced to compete with the younger Casa Nova of the retirement home. When the younger man takes Grampa's new girl on a road trip, Grampa "kidnaps" Bart, taking him on the road to win back the woman from the arms of the other man. Of course in the end, he's unsuccessful in his attempts, but he and Bart are able to bond through the experience.
