Comic Mint, is pleased to offer Tweety & Sylvester fans this unique piece of animation art from the Friz Freleng "Masters Collection Edition" series.
This SOLD-OUT limited edition was inspired by a scene from the Merrie Melodies cartoon "Tweety Pie," directed by Friz Freleng (1905-1995). This short was both the first to combine the inimitable pair of Tweety of Sylvester (called Thomas in his short), as well as the first Warner Bros. cartoon to win an Academy Award.
This scene finds the intrepid feline bringing down the ceiling in a failed attempt at a feathery snack. The concept for this art was conceived of and developed by Mr. Freleng. It is the last in a series of three unsigned Friz Freleng limited editions that were produced after his death in May of 1995.
This limited edition cel began with a drawing by famed Warner Bros. director Friz Freleng. The master character line was silk-screened onto an acetate sheet (or "cel") along with the Warner Bros. Masters Collection/ Friz Freleng seal. Each cel was then expertly HAND-PAINTED on the reverse side. The original background was reproduced using the lithography process on acid-free paper. In the final step of production, the edition number was hand-inked on each cel in an edition number of 500.
This edition has been SOLD-OUT for many years, as it was released way back in 1996, and is very hard to find. The artwork is comprised of a single hand painted cel placed against a photographic background, and is matted to an image area measuring 11.5" x 9.5" inches (unframed).
The cel has the official FRIZ FRELENG Warners gold seal (lower corner), and is accompanied with a certificate of authenticity.
