Comic Mint is pleased to offer Looney Tunes fans this unique piece of animation art featuring Bugs Bunny, K-9 and Marvin Martian.
This SOLD-OUT limited edition cel depicts a classic scene from "Hare's Best Friend", in which Commander X-2 can only look on in frustration as his faithful companion (sometimes) K-9 warms up to their Earthling enemy, Bugs Bunny. Created by Charles. M. Jones and Michael Maltese for the Looney Tunes short "Haredevil Hare", Marvin Martian (as he later became known) has been featured in fewer than ten Warner Bros. cartoons yet has soared to the upper stratosphere when it comes to popularity, going to intergalactic war with anyone who stands in his way to destroying the Earth. What's even more amazing is the while Marvin has one of the most distinctive voices in cartoons, the pint sized, tennis-shoed alien actually has no mouth!
This Limited Edition Cel began with a Darrell Van Citters drawing based on an image from Haredevil Hare. From this drawing Patricia Martinez created the master inking which was then silk-screened with the Warner Bros. Seal onto an acetate sheet (or "cel"). Each cel was ink-enhanced by hand before being hand-painted on the reverse side. The background by Andy Phillipson was reproduced on acid-free paper using a lithography process. The edition number was hand-inked on each cel in a special edition size of only 350 pieces. Upon completion of the edition, the original artwork was archived.
This edition of 350 pieces (worldwide) has been SOLD-OUT for many years, as it was released way back in 1998, and is very hard to find. The artwork is comprised of a single hand painted cel placed against a photographic background, and is matted to an image area measuring 12" x 10" inches (unframed). The cel has the official Warner Brothers gold seal (lower corner), and is accompanied with a certificate of authenticity.
