We are pleased to offer PEANUTS fans this unique piece of animation art entitled: "Snoopy's Audition" which was created under the artistic direction of animation director, Lawrence Leichliter, at Bill Melendez Productions, Inc., in association with Lee Mendelson Productions and Charles M. Schulz's Creative Associates in 2014.
Larry sketched a series of storyboard panels based on the action-packed scene in "A Charlie Brown Christmas" depicting Snoopy's uncanny ability to portray multiple parts in the school's Christmas play. Centering on Snoopy's ability to rile up Lucy, Mr. Leichliter captured the heart of the scene: Snoopy completes his audition with his best vulture impression and get's Lucy's goat in the limited edition animation cel.
"Snoopy's Audition" animation cel is hand-inked and hand-painted, and mounted on a giclee background print.
The background was replicated on 315 gsm 100% cotton rag paper from an original hand-painted background especially prepared for this art. Created on Arches Velin Museum Rag paper, the giclee diptych storyboard sequence is signed by Mr. Leichliter. The finest archival inks were utilised to create both the storyboard sequence print and the background for the limited edition cel.
Preserving a treasured moment in the Peanuts television debut, "Snoopy's Audition" has been fashioned in the finest tradition of Bill Melendez Productions, Inc.
”A Charlie Brown Christmas” originally aired on Thursday evening, December 9th, 1965.
A Peanuts limited edition is individually numbered and bears the Peanuts Film Gallery seal of authenticity and is accompanied with the studio certificate of authenticity. This piece was produced in a small edition size of 65 piece (worldwide) and the cel artwork measures 12.75" x 9.75" inches (unframed). The Storyboards measure 10.5" x 7.62" inches and 10.5" x 6" inches.
